They say: In this book, His Holiness offers his highly practical views on the subject: how to do it, the various different procedures and approaches we can take, what we and others may gain from it. He explains how we can develop a spiritual path in a proper sequence rather than in a scattered, piecemeal fashion. He also shows the importance of building up both method and wisdom, as well as cultivating compassion and 'special insight' as we train our minds.

This impressive and stimulating book will not only bring the Dalai Lama - one of the world's most popular and pragmatic spiritual leaders - to a huge new audience but, because so many people round the globe ar practicing meditation, from a basis of religious faith or none, this is a work which will doubtless be in print for many years to come.

I was quite shocked by the depth of this book, I presumed it would be a guidebook as to how to meditate or deepen your meditations I was wrong!! What this book does do is explain a lot of the Dalai Lama's views, not only on meditation but also Buddhism in general. It is not an easy book to read with lots of diagrams, but is a deep book which can and should take you into meditation work easier than before, it is really thought provoking and will provide many hours of reading material for the new and experienced to this field alike, it is an inspirational work which lifts your mind and spirit. This is a small book with loads of information which may take more than one read to take in (it did me!!), is great value for money and is a great read. If you don't come away from reading this book with a new take on meditation and life in general then it has not done its job correctly.
