By Vernon Marshall View ProfileThis is a full length film, with actors and plots, but with a difference. I expected a film with Wayne Dyer to be a collection of his speeches, or of him speaking directly to camera. What an unexpected surprise I received! This film includes several stories in one, of different people attending a retreat centre for different reasons. They all have different problems in their lives, personal or family or career-wise. They meet Wayne Dyer who just chats to them in his homely manner, conveying simple words of wisdom derived from Taoist philosophy enshrined in the Tao Te Ching. He does not lecture, nor is he in any way partisan. He manages to give his wisdom a universalistic relevance. The film itself moves along gently and intriguingly. I was most taken by the young couple who are clearly well-off. They had agreed when they met that they would not have children. Having announced that she was pregnant the couple fight and decide, angrily, to go their separate ways. They come back together when they reflect on the reasons why they came together in the first place, and when they discover the really important things in life. I suppose the film bears a lot of naivety, but it is just a film. I love the pace of the film, I love the positive nature of it, and I just love Wayne Dyer’s love of life and his philosophy of life. I can use this film in spiritual life classes, I can share it with friends who are seeking to discover their real nature, but I can use it for myself and I shall watch it many times. I can heartily recommend it to anybody who is serious about healing their lives and who wish to live a life of meaning.
