Origin & History
Rosemary is currently cultivated in England, France, Morocco, Russia, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia and the Balkan states, although there are debates over its origin. Throughout history, rosemary has been highly valued within medicine, cooking and rituals and is praised for its healing properties. In Rome, the herbs was considered to be sacred and it was thought to have been given as a gift to humans by the greek goddess Aphrodite. Rosemary has also been found within Egyptian tombs, it is thought that the plant was burnt during cleansing rituals and healing as an incense. It has appeared over the years with different names; during the Renaissance rosemary was used as part of a universal remedy called 'plant stone', but it also appeared as 'Water of the Queen of Hungary' also known as the liquor 'The Elixir of Youth'. The Queen Elizabeth of Hungary was reputed to have retained her beauty even into old age after using the remedy.
To this day, rosemary is still widely used within cooking and is associated with symbols of loyalty, friendship, love, marriage and remembrance.
Due to its powerful aroma, Rosemary should be used sparingly within blends so that it doesn't overpower the other scents. You could try blending it with basil, bergamot, cedarwood, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, lemongrass, lime, mandarin, melissa, myrtle, orange, peppermint and tangerine.
How to Store Your Oils: Essential oils can be quite delicate substances and factors such as strong light, heat, air and moisture can affect them. They are best kept in a cool, dark and dry place ideally in a box and in a cupboard. We wouldn't recommend transferring your essential oils into plastic bottles as the plastic can interact with the chemical makeup of your essential oils and may cause the plastic to deteriorate. Keeping them in their dark, amber bottle with the lid will prolong their life. Oils that are stored in the correct condition should last for years (citrus oils have a slightly shorter life).
Size: 10ml, presented in an amber glass bottle.
