Baieido Japanese Incense

Baieido is one of the oldest traditional incense producers in Japan and has been making high quality, pure products for over 300 years. In 1657, Kakuuemon Yamatoya founded a wholesale business specialising in making and selling medicinal herbs and incense. This gave him the right called himself Jinkoya Sakubei, which meant 'aloeswood trader'.

The company developed into one of the top three in the industry in Japan at a time when trade with countries such as China, Spain and Portugal was brisk. Later the name of the business changed to Nakata Baieido, still making incense with methods that had been handed down for generations.

Baieido is now recognised as one of the highest quality incense manufacturers in the world today blending the finest aromatic woods and resins to produce a natural, mild, low-smoke incense stick of superb quality and aroma. Their formulas have been passed down through generations and they still use many time-honored manufacturing processes to produce their top quality products.
