Ylang Ylang Organic Pure Essential Oil (10ml) - Cananga Odorata

A delectably sweet and exotic oil, ylang ylang is a soft and floral aroma, reminiscent of jasmine, orchids and almonds.

A relaxing oil and a long renowned aphrodisiac, known to be evocative, euphoric and erotic. It has a soothing effect that can aid in dispelling anger and stubborness and can help reconcile negative emotions to replace them with positive ones. Strengthening and stimulating, it can both relax you and activate enthusiasm depending on your needs.

Physically, it is excellent for lowering high blood pressure, slowing down rapid breathing and is reputed to balance hormones; particularly beneficial for stress related disorders or PMT. Valuable as a hair and skin tonic, it can help balance the secretion of sebum which is especially good for oily skin types and relaxes facial muscles.

Within other uses, you can add a few drops to your shampoo or condition to add a touch of luxury - ylang ylang is said to stimulate the scalp to encourage hair growth and strong healthy hair. You could also try adding it to an evening bath to help ease away any tension and to gain some balance.

Origin & History
Ylang Ylang is native to the Philippines and Indonesia and is currently cultivated in Madagascar, Java, the Comoroas, Reunion and Sumatra. The word "Ylang Ylang" is from the Malayan language meaning "flowers of flowers" and are a traditional adornment in the Far East. The flowers have been used by native Indonesian women as a perfume for their hair and to spread on the beds of newlyweds on their wedding night. In their originating country, the blossoms from the tree would be immersed in coconut oil and the resulting remedy would be used to treat fevers and diseases such as malaria. Other uses for this concoction were the famous '"Macassar" a Victorian hair oil used by housewives. To this day ylang ylang is still a popular ingredient within perfumery, not just because of it's scent but also because it is a particularly good fixative. It is also widely used in cosmetics, bath products, massage oils, hair care, skin products and is occasionally used to flavour drinks and desserts.

Blending Suggestions
Ylang Ylang blends well with other oils, you could try it with orange, lemon, sandalwood, jasmine, neroli, tonka bean, bergamot, rose, citronella, grapefruit, lavender, melissa, patchouli, verbena and rosewood.

How to Store Your Oils: Essential oils can be quite delicate substances and factors such as strong light, heat, air and moisture can affect them. They are best kept in a cool, dark and dry place ideally in a box and in a cupboard. We wouldn't recommend transferring your essential oils into plastic bottles as the plastic can interact with the chemical makeup of your essential oils and may cause the plastic to deteriorate. Keeping them in their dark, amber bottle with the lid will prolong their life. Oils that are stored in the correct condition should last for years (citrus oils have a slightly shorter life).

Size: 10ml, presented in an amber glass bottle.
