Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach

The most celebrated inspirational fable of our time.

On the Back of the Book
The complete edition of a timeless classic, which includes the recently rediscovered Part Four and 'Last Words' by Richard Bach. A story celebrating the strength of the individual and the joy of finding your own way.

For most seagulls flying is just a means of finding food, but for Jonathan Livingston Seagull flying is life itself. In flying Jonathan realises that he can find fulfillment and higher purpose in life, so, against the conventions of society, he seeks to become the best at doing what he loves.

Jonathan shows us that if we follow our dreams we can truly soar. This beautiful fable explains the importance of fulfilling our ambitions and making the most of our lives, even if these goals run against the norms of our flock.

'Richard Bach with this book does two things.
He gives me Flight.
He makes me Young.
For both I am deeply grateful.'
 - Ray Bradbury

    Follow Your Dreams

Posted by Rachel Newcombe on 8th Feb 2005

Johnathan Livingston Seagull (JLS) is the story of a seagull who is no ordinary bird. Unlike the others in his flock, he wants to learn and experiment even more with flying and isn't happy to accept their mundane lifestyle. He wants to perfect the art of flying until he's the best he can be. However, in the process of seeking his higher purpose, JLS is cast out from the flock and left alone. This eventually leads on to some of the greatest lessons he's experienced and through his work and practice he learns to love even those that outcast him and see the good in every one of them.

Apart from an uplifting and encouraging story, this book has a host of underlying moral and spiritual messages for readers to take away and apply to life. It deals with opening your eyes and seeing beyond the day-to-day activities, of having the courage to stand by your beliefs and begin to understand who and what you really are, and the art of learning to forgive and love unconditionally. This is a real classic, a book to read, keep and treasure, and to re-read when you need a reminder about the important lessons in life. It's a book that could help you break free from the constraints of life and dare to follow your dreams, plus it would make a wonderful gift for others.
