About the Author
Christine Burke stepped into yoga as an actress and a dancer in New York in 1994. In 2000 she received her first certification in Los Angeles as a 200-hour level teacher, and she has been teaching full time ever since.
She is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance at the 800-hour-plus level and has taught thousands of students of all ages and conditions. She is also a certified Grief Educator and uses yoga as a healing tool for those experiencing various losses and grief. She is the founder of The Spiritual Mental Health Diet Program, a course centred around self-care, group support, and yoga philosophy.
Christine and her husband Gary McCleery opened Liberation Yoga in 2004 and the studio was named in the “Top 20 Yoga Studios In The World” by Travel + Leisure magazine, as well as listed in the “Top 10 Best Yoga Studios In LA” by LA Weekly on multiple occasions.
Christine has written for LA Yoga and Yogi Times and her teaching has been featured in LA Times, LA Weekly, Yogi Times, LA Yoga, Westways, and Great Yoga Teachers. Her first book, The Yoga Healer, won the Soul and Spirit magazine award for “Best Yoga Book of The Year”. She lives happily sharing the gift of yoga in Los Angeles with her animal companions, daughter Clementine, and the Spirit of her husband.
