Eucalyptus Organic Pure Essential Oil (10ml) - Eucalyptus Globulus
Eucalyptus has a very distinct, crisp, clear, fresh and piercing balsamic and camphorous scent.
Eucalyptus is an essential addition to keep in your first aid kit, its refreshing and stimulating properties can help with mental exhaustion or emotional overload, and it is also quite a powerful antiseptic, antiviral and bactericidal.
Its stimulating properties can help to increase concentration, clear the head and cool the emotions - a great early morning wake-up if you are feeling a little lethargic! This oil is effective for respiratory problems such as the flu, soothing aches and pains including migraines and can calm sunburn, acne, facial blemishes and dandruff.
Within other uses, Eucalyptus oil can make an effective mouth spray, it can be used as a deodorant and can be added to anti-dandruff shampoos. It makes an effective insect repellent (and can be blended with bergamot and lavender to do this), and can also help to deter dog fleas.
Origin & History
The Eucalyptus tree is indigenous to Australia and was named 'Kino' by Native Aborigines who considered it to be a cure-all. It is now cultivated within many sub-tropical regions such as Egypt, China, India, Spain, South Africa, Algeria and within the state of California. Some species of Eucalyptus can grow up to 135 metres tall and they comprise over 75% of the tree population in Australia. It was introduced to Europe and the rest of the world from Australia in 1857 and is now widely utilized within the pharmaceutical industry specifically for commercial chest rubs, cold remedies and within veterinary medicine. It is a popular additive to spa and sauna products and is often the oil of preference for aromatherapists due to its pleasant smell and is less likely to irritate the skin.
Due to its distinct and strong scent, it can overpower a blend so it is advisable to add it to essential oils of which contribute to the desired effect that you require. Alternatively it can be used sparingly with the following oils: Basil, cajeput, cedarwood, cypress, rosemary, niaouli, pine, hyssop, bergamot, angelica, juniper, lavender, lemon, verbena, balm, benzoin, coriander, lemongrass, melissa, chamomile and thyme, with which it shares many similar properties.
How to Store Your Oils: Essential oils can be quite delicate substances and factors such as strong light, heat, air and moisture can affect them. They are best kept in a cool, dark and dry place ideally in a box and in a cupboard. We wouldn't recommend transferring your essential oils into plastic bottles as the plastic can interact with the chemical makeup of your essential oils and may cause the plastic to deteriorate. Keeping them in their dark, amber bottle with the lid will prolong their life. Oils that are stored in the correct condition should last for years (citrus oils have a slightly shorter life).
Size: 10ml, presented in an amber glass bottle.
Extra Information: Not Tested on Animals, Manufactured in the UK. (For more information on Natural by Nature Oils, please see below).
Safety Precautions: Not recommended for those with high blood pressure, epilepsy or if you are taking homeopathic medicines. The fumes can be extremely potent so this should be very well diluted particularly for young children as it may cause choking. Adults breathing the fumes too close from the bottle may trigger a coughing reflex so also avoid during an asthma attack. This oil is toxic if taken internally, however many authorities advocate its safety for neat external use.
Do not use undiluted on the skin. Do not take internally without medical supervision. Keep away from eyes. Keep out of the reach of children. Seek advice during pregnancy.
