These thin Palo Santo Wood Sticks are ideal for use with smudging. Palo Santo is known for its properties to aid in clearing bad energy, providing spiritual protection and bringing good luck.

On the Packet
Palo Santo - Blessing and Purification. Palo Santo is literally the Saint Tree. Used for centuries in Peru and Ecuador for spiritual ceremonies. Burn chips as you would incense or smudge sticks; light, allow to burn momentarily, blow out flame and fan ember. May need to be re-lit. "Wash" persons, places, or property with the smoke. The more the chip is lit, the easier it is to keep the ember going.

Size of Wood Sticks

Our 1/2 oz wood sticks usually contain 1-3 sticks that together weigh upto 1/2 oz. These roughly tend to be 9.5 - 10 cm's and will vary in width; approximately this will be between 1 - 1.5 cm's.

Our 1 oz wood sticks mostly contain between 2-3 sticks, although there might be the odd packet with one very large stick; altogether these will weigh upto 1 oz. They are a similar size to the 1/2 oz packs, they might just be slightly larger in width.

Smudging is a ceremony used to clear away negative energies and to attract ones that are more positive. Native Americans have traditionally used many herbs for this purpose, each one having a different effect on the aura and inner being. You may burn a smudge stick directly (or in this case, a wood stick) from the end (extinguish carefully afterwards. When smudging, try to feel connected with a power greater than yourself. You may say prayers while using a feather, or simply the palm of your hand, to brush the smoke over you.

Smudge sticks/wood sticks can be used for cleansing of the aura, for example before meditation or prayer, or they quite often these days used by body workers and therapists. They can also be used for cleansing a house or dwelling and are often used in this way in Feng Shui.

Country of Origin: Northern Peru; re-packaged in Grand Mesa, Colorado

More About Palo Santo
Palo Santo is a tree that can typically be found in South America in areas such as Peru and Ecuador; it's name in Spanish literally means "Holy Wood" and is often referred to by this name. It is been used and revered to by many for hundreds of years for it's cleansing, spiritual, healing and medicinal properties, similar to the properties that can be found by using Sage and Cedar. It has a delicate sweet, fresh and woodsy aroma with hints of mint and citrus.

The properties of Palo Santo wood makes it ideal for use in cleansing of places, people and objects, for clearing ceremonies and before meditation or prayer.

Sustainability
All our Palo Santo products have been traditionally, legally and ethically gathered and harvested. Traditionally a Palo Santo tree lasts for around 80 years and the wood is only used once the tree has been dead for 4-10 years (when the tree is alive, the scent is completely devoid in the wood). It is only once the wood has been untouched where it has grown that it will then create its exceptional properties. All trees that have been used are harvested through a sustainable and natural process.
