Staff Review by Brett Almond

Satya Natural Agarbatti is from Shrinivas Sugandhalaya, the same company that makes Sai Baba Nag Champa Incense (you know, the one in the blue box) that has been probably the best selling incense in the UK for decades. They also make Super Hit, kind of like the sister of Nag Champa.

For me, this Natural Incense is like the cousin, who no one has actually met, but when they do meet her, they really like her and wonder why they hadn’t made the effort before!

To help me with my review I am going to compare Natural with Nag Champa and see what I think the main differences are. After all they have the same grandparents!

Nag Champa has a bit more bass note and is familiar, rich, deep, floral, complete and overall wonderfully comforting in a 70s kind of way. There is no getting away from it, Nag Champa is what I (and many others) would pick out as the incense you would have burning in an archetypal new age, Indian, hippy shop.

So how does Natural differ? Out of the box Natural it is light, floral and airy, with a gentle sweet perfume. On burning, I would say it is sweeter and slightly richer than Nag Champa. It doesn’t have the hippy gene to the same degree and is not as bold. It is wonderfully pleasant and the floral is an earthy floral, in the way patchouli is earthy. I feel it would make a comforting background incense.

This company do make a whole range of different incense using the “Satya” name. Satya is a Sanskrit word which sums up the constancy in all things. That which is unchangeable. So this is called “Satya Natural Agarbatti”. Agarbatti simply translating as incense.

Overall, sweet, pleasing yet rich incense with mass appeal. Also, Jane just came into my office and voluntarily told me she really liked the smell. So that is another endorsement. So is well worth a try I feel.

    Floral, Vanilla, Clean

Posted by Michael H on 15th Oct 2019

I really do like the incense manufactured by Shrinivas Sugandhalaya. They are always clean burning and fragant. I have tried the Nag Champa Incense, made by the same manufacturer, and it is one of my favourite Indian incenses, and so I thought I'd try this one. Like Nag Champa it burns cleanly and at a relaxing rate. It has a vanillary smell to it and is nice and calming. Recommended.
