Sacred Contracts by Caroline Myss
Information: 508 pages, paperback
They say: The author of the international bestsellers Anatomy of the Spirit and Why People Don't Heal and How They Can presents an exciting, highly original programme in this long-awaited book. As a medical intuitive, Myss has found that people generally don't understand their purpose in life, which has led to a spiritual malaise of epidemic proportions. This metaphysical disease in turn leads to depression, anxiety, fatigue and eventually, physical illness.
But our purpose - our individual Sacred Contract - is often difficult to comprehend. Caroline Myss has developed an enjoyable and ingenious process for deciphering your own Contract that builds on the works of Jung, Plato and contemporary thinkers. With her signature motivational style, Myss explains how you can identify your own spiritual energies, or archetypes, and use them to help you find out what you are here on earth to learn and whom you are meant to meet. In coming to know your archetypal companions, you will also begin to see how to live your life in ways that make the best use of your personal power and lead you to fulfil your greatest - in fact, your divine - potential. Both visionary and practical, Sacred Contracts is a brilliant synthesis of psychology, healing guidance and spiritual insight from the internationally renowned pioneer of energy medicine.

American born Caroline Myss is a medical intuitive, mystic and author of a number of bestselling books, including Why People Don’t Heal and How They Can, Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential and Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing.
She initially started her career as a journalist and, after completing a Master’s degree in theology, she co-founded Stillpoint Publishing, where she led the editorial department. There she was responsible for producing books in the fields of holistic health and human consciousness.
Caroline’s work as a medical intuitive began when she teamed up with C. Norman Shealy, a neurosurgeon, and began to do health readings of his patients. All the readings were done via a telephone and by only knowing the name and age of the patient, Caroline was able to produce profiles of their physical, psychological, emotional and family history.
Her research led her own to develop the discipline of energy anatomy, which links emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual stress with diseases. Her work in this area eventually led to the publication of the book, The Creation of Health, in conjunction with Norman Shealy.
Caroline and Norman developed an educational program to teach the principles of the Science of Medical Intuition and also fund research into the field. In 2003, Caroline created CMED (Caroline Myss Education), an educational institute with courses relating to personal development.
Caroline’s books have been translated into numerous languages and are of universal appeal. She continues to teach workshops, run seminars, speak on radio shows and produce audio recordings.

Reviews - rated 4/5 based on customer reviews4 out of 5 By Emma, WrexhamWith Sacred Contracts, Caroline Myss has written a book that can help guide people towards understanding their purpose in life, and for those that already have an idea it is still a useful tool for confirmation and much more. This book isn't a heart-warming easygoing pop-spirituality book, more a home-study course of the intricacies of your psyche. It will appeal to those that want to know in depth why as an individual we are here and what we are here to do, and for those who want to strip back the layers of the personality and really get to know themselves better. It is worth its weight in gold if you can work through it. Myss explains what our contracts are, in short, 'an agreement made with your soul before you are born' with some examples of the masters' contracts to illustrate. Lists of archetypes (aspects of our personalities) are listed, many of these are easy to identify with and the difficulty comes from choosing just eight of them, along with the four archetypes that are common to all. In-depth interviewing exercises plus other exercises throughout the book are designed to shed light and shadow thus helping the whole process of gaining more clarity and insight into your life.
With your own archetypes illuminated a wheel is then cast, using a process of divination. The wheel is based on the 12 astrological houses that serve to illustrate the way that our individual traits can play out in certain areas of our lives. Myss also brings in a novel way of looking at the chakras, through what she calls a lens. I loved this for looking at a confusing 'what on earth is going on?' life test. I do think that it is a shame that this book hasn't been......more
