More About Carla Morrow
Carla Morrow is a fantasy artist specializing in dragons and creatures from myth and legend. Using pencil and watercolour she creates the imagse and worlds that exist in her mind, bringing them to the light so that others may share and enjoy the dragons and other creatures she sees. She has been drawing and colouring for as long as she can remember and has always been interested in the worlds and creatures that occupy the fantasy realms. Carla developed her artistry by seeking out mentors rather than engaging in a school environment. She moved from acrylic painting and marker work to watercolour in 2005. Carla began to see and channel dragons early in her art career, they have't left her alone since, and often keep her up later than she should be.

Carla currently resides in the cool mountains of southern New Mexico with her infinitely patient husband, and two rescue mutts, Hopper and Libby. She travels all over the south west for art shows, renaissance fairs and comic cons. When not painting she is usually reading fantasy novels, researching, or collecting crystals.

    Reminiscent of Victorian botanical art.

Posted by Fiona Law on 4th May 2020

This oracle deck is beautifully created. The Victorian presentation is complete in the style of the artwork, the color pallet, and the accompanying book. The book allows a page for each card. Each page begins with a black and white picture of its card and goes on to explain why that flower was chosen to represent its corresponding affirmation, as well as giving a background of the flower's appearance in folklore and its medicinal properties. This is followed by a meditative question relating to the card's affirmation. The cards are thick, have a velvety feel and are of good quality. Although large, they shuffle easily. The scrolling designs on the boarders and backs of these cards are not gilt - this is not a sumptuous presentation. Each card's affirmation, flower and butterfly, upon which its dragon is based, is featured below the picture. The beautiful, well defined artwork is reminiscent of Victorian botanical pictures. The dragon-butterflies alighted on the flowers lift the deck up from the mundane, giving a hint of magic and adding intrigue to this serene and beautiful deck.
