It was only when I recently decided to sort through my book collection, that I realised how long ago my curiosity in spiritual activities actually started. I am 44 years old now, and my first book, Mysteries of the Inner Self, was acquired sometime during the 1970's. Over the years, my interest has waxed and waned touching on various spiritual topics - hence my quite eclectic book selection! But then that's me - if I am curious about something - I buy a book! Topics that have appealed to me over the years have been psychic development, the tarot, Feng Shui, crystals (which I collect) and during 2003 I was attuned to Reiki I & II.

I have begun to want to know more about Buddhism, so my spiritual journey continues to develop. Recently I was diagnosed with breast cancer and have undergone two operations. During such a time of emotional and physical stress to me and my family, anything else that could help - had to be good. So equipped with my selection of relaxation music, oils, incense sticks and candles, I choose to either sit and meditate, write poetry or simply lay back and enjoy a warm bath. My ten year old daughter enjoys 'candle baths' too! The feelings of calm and tranquillity that are evoked, help me immensely and have proved valuable to helping me cross this high mountain. I'm nearly at the peak now and hope to positively run down the other side in the coming months!
