    What Holisticshop staff think

"The energy of the wolf can remind us to use and connect with our intuition, and find our true inner voice, a voice that is completely natural. It is also about embracing our wild nature that wants to be let loose, to teach ourself to do this and to live our life freely, which as the packet also says 'Teaching'.

The scent from this incense was more subtle than some of the others I have tried in this range; when it did come through it was smooth and slightly earthy with a sweet floral backdrop.

This would be good if you'd like to use it for the intention of being more connected with the Wolf Spirit and its energy, or others may choose it for the smell. Either way, I found this to be a delicate and relaxing incense. Its something I quite like when I'm not looking for something too overpowering, as the aroma gently fills a room."

    Dictionary Terms Explained

Wolf - Inner power, wild, instinctive
Wolves howl at the moon. Howling can be seen as finding our own true inner voice, a voice that is untamed by what society thinks. It is a voice that is entirely natural. Wolf is actually quite a feminine symbol. It symbolises a wild, instinctive and passionate nature that is natural. Stories are common in the past of some lone wolves almost magically outwitting hunters. Some of these wolves even became known by specific names because of their notoriety.

Wolves are not naturally aggressive although they can be if called upon. Wolf is about knowing your inner power in such a sure way that you do not need to demonstrate it. It is much like a black belt in karate not needing to go around beating people up, because they know they have a skill and strength that is hidden and ready to be used if called upon.

Wolves are both family orientated and can be individualistic also just as humans can. Wolves communicate widely within a pack. They have different facial expressions, postures, tail positions and noises that keep the pack together and in order. There is an alpha male and female in each pack but each wolf within the pack has different responsibilities. The wolf is a social animal and different female wolves will aid in the bringing up of the young. If a mother can no longer care for its pup another mother will adopt it. Also wolves will baby-sit for others pups.

To wear or have near you the symbol of wolf is to howl your deeper nature into existence. As humans we become so conditioned by what society and other people expect of us we can lose touch with our wild nature that wants to be let lose. Wolf helps us connect to this our inner power. The moon represents this deeper hidden side and the howling is the call to bring this part of us forward.

Medicine Wheel - Wheel of life
The medicine wheel is an all encompassing system of life common to most Native American traditions. It has four directions: the East, South, West and the North. Here is one simple interpretation of what each direction represents:

  • East: yellow / mental / air / birth / eagle
  • South: white / emotional / water / childhood / coyote
  • West: black / physical / earth / adulthood / bear
  • North: red / spiritual / fire / elder / buffalo

Whole books have been written about the medicine wheel and what each direction represents and the exact colours and positions of the various elements can vary between tribes and teachers but this does not matter too much (as long as you stick with the system you become familiar with) as the basic message is that to live to your highest potential and happiness you must put all four aspects into balance. This is a system (like the Kaballah is a system) that can be studied and applied to daily living. The medicine wheel as a symbol is a symbol of balance and reconciliation with yourself. To wear or have around you this symbol states your intention to live in balance and manifest the joy and peace this balance will bring. The four colours also represent the Asian people / white people / black people / and the native people so in this way the medicine wheel is also a symbol of world peace as well as inner peace.
