They say: Superb meditational pieces with authentic instruments and deep spirituality. A Buddhist disciple sets off on an epic personal pilgrimage from Nepal to the sacred city of Lhasa in Tibet, his journey powerfully depicted through Tibetan Singing Bowls, Taiko Drum, Tincha and Tola Bells.
Chris was born in 1948, and started studying Buddhism in 1969 while a successful jazz and rock drummer in London. Ordained as a Zen Buddhist Monk in 1983, he studied in India, Nepal and Los Angeles and he now teaches Zen Buddhism and this form of percussion, which he calls 'Zen Drumming'.
We say: A whole variety of instruments are used in this most unusual work. This is unadulterated authentic music - no synthesisers here! Sometimes quite intense with powerful drums, other times calm and reflective with lighter bells and more gentle instruments.
