    Juliet Sharman-Burke (5) - Tarot expert
Juliet Sharman-Burke was born in Nairobi, Kenya and has spent over 20 years practising astrology and tarot and has written a number of books on these topics, both for beginners and the more advanced. Her fascination with the tarot began in the early 1970s, but it wasn’t until 1976, when she did a course at the Franklin School in London, that she decided to focus more intently on her passion for the tarot, as well as her interest in psychology and astrology. She has successfully combined all these interests into her life and work, through teaching, working and writing books.

Juliet qualified as an analytic psychotherapist and runs a private practice in the city of London. Alongside this, she’s taught and supervised at the Centre for Psychological Astrology since it began in June 1983. She currently runs the administration and organisation sides of the Centre.

Juliet has gone on to write a number of highly acclaimed books on astrology and tarot subjects, plus a book of stories for children. She’s co-authored a couple of titles with Liz Greene, including The Mythic Tarot and The Mythic Journey, the former of which included a tarot deck and was based on Greek myths.

She’s also co-created the Sharman-Caselli Tarot Deck, along with Italian illustrator Giovanni Caselli. Originally produced as part of The Beginner’s Guide to Tarot, the deck has since been released on its own and uses more traditional symbolism on the cards, which is drawn from a mixture of influences, including the Waite, Visconti and Marseilles decks.

    Tarot Cards (61) -
The Tarot is a specific system that has 78 cards in total. There are 4 suits (referred to as the minor arcana) and 22 other cards (referred to as the major arcana). Each card represents a specific energy. And each card, through the picture on the card, is trying to help you to feel the specific energy of that card. The reason there are so many different kinds of Tarot decks is that Different Tarot decks may present this energy in different pictorial form. We have lots of articles on Tarot.

This presentation by Juliet Sharman-Burke is realistically aimed at aspiring Tarot readers.‘The Tarot Box’ is durable and it measures three and three quarters of an inch in each dimension. It is attractively hinged and illustrated with stars, cups, wands, pentacles and rods in gold against a blue background.
Inside are the cards an interlocking clip fit layout board and a book that serves as introduction and guidance towards using Tarot.
The cards are of small dimension and as a result some of the detail, for example facial expressions, can be fairly difficult to discern.
The artwork is pleasing with clear colouring and exact drawing.
It is somewhat unfair to compare these cards with regular decks as they are so tiny and this deck does manage to convey a great deal in spite of the size.
The advantage of a deck this size is that anyone with smaller hands will have no difficulty handling them so they do indeed serve well as an introduction to Tarot for younger people. The dimensions of these seventy eight cards are two inches by three and a quarter.
The interlocking clip fit layout board is not really useful. I feel it would have been better to include a silk reading cloth in the box however I am sure there are those who would appreciate the board and use either of the two spreads that it carries.
The book by Juliet is quite outstanding such a tiny book and so much within.
It is something of a revelation and very welcome.
I am aware that many suggest not to use Tarot books to learn and to use only intuition. That said we all have to get started somehow and this well written book manages to offer an exceptional introduction to Tarot.

I am a clairvoyant of some years but have become a bit slow in my hands due to arthritis etc. Years ago, about 30 I think, I "learned the tarot" by meditating and pondering on each card, and what it meant to ME. Yes I know, it will take a long time, years, but the end result is that you no longer have to look at a book to know the cards, and the minor arcana bumps up the info. Now, I just use a spread to see a picture pattern, and whilst giving a reading I hold my quartz crystal and make a "link", using the cards sparks the story. Over the years the normal size cards that I use have become unwieldy for me to shuffle and expediently make a spread, and I have small hands anyway. Ideally I wanted a smaller deck. Couldn't find anything suitable. Then I found holisticshop.co.uk Tarot cards in a box with a book and layout board. What a difference these tiny cards make to the speed of my shuffling and laying them out. If it hadn't of been for looking online and finding www.holisticshop.co.uk I doubt if I would have found these tiny cards. It's quite wrong to assume (as purists tend to do) that because the tarot cards are smaller than normal, that they are less effective and therefore should be demoted to the ranks of learner cards or even children's cards. These are just the job for me. Many thanks to you all at Holistic Shop, and the speedy and efficient service.

This was the first set of tarot cards I actually learnt to read tarot cards with. Though I am naturally intuitive, I found this set to be a great help in furthering my skills. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone just starting out.

I ordered these cards as I like to collect tarot cards. I was recently admitted to hospital it was so easy to slip these cards in my case. I loved lying in my bed looking at my cards - the pictures came to life straight away all the questions I asked the cards to reveal, they did. They were so easy to hold in my hand. Also easy to meditate with.
