They say: Tai Chi Chuan is a Soft, Internal Martial Art, that has been practised in China for thousands of years. It uses graceful, flowing movements, combined with the power of breath to bring balance and alignment to mind, body and spirit.

Each move is an exercise in itself and can be repeated several times in order to gain flexibility and strength. Take your time and do not rush. Repeat each set until you feel comfortable. Remember, you are exploring your inner self, and in this way the form will evolve into your awareness. In order to be in harmony you must first obtain balance, so by practising a Soft Martial Art you can train your body, discipline your mind and gain spiritual awareness.

The joy of rediscovering your true self is amazing. Leaving you able to breathe effortlessly and move freely through life with all its changes.

There are many forms of Tai-Chi and every time I have Tai-Chi lessons the routine is different so I have to learn it all over again. This CD is no exception! On the whole I like this CD because she does not talk all the time and she has a pleasant voice. Lin Williams divided the forms into different sets of 4 to make it easier to learn. The only criticism is as in this routine you move sideways, backward and forward I end up turning my back to the TV which makes it difficult for me to watch. However, Lin goes through from 1 to 4 movements at the end, with her back facing us and this is when I manage to learn it. Once I know the step I just rewind it slightly.

I really think that Tai-Chi is extremely good for you physically and mentally. It gives you discipline, and helps you to keep calm under stress. You can take it up at any age and it is best done either in the morning or in the evening. It is not strenuous; it just requires coordination between the arms and legs. Once you know the routine by heart you are able to concentrate and find peace within.
