Return to Love is a classic that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and would highly recommend. You do not have to have studied the Course in Miracles to understand what Marianne Williamson discusses. The text stands alone as an interesting, thought provoking read and perhaps even as an introduction to the Course.

You may be familiar with the famous quote from this book, illustrating how beautifully reassuring and empowering the content is:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you".

The first part of the book, 'Principles' discusses in chapters, Hell, God, You, Surrender and Miracles; the second half of the book is 'Practise' of the principles, Relationships, Work, Body and Heaven. It includes sub-sections such as judgement, surrender, prayer, forgiveness, resistance, goals, commitment, living in the present, relinquishing fear, money, re-birth and the Holy encounter.

The book is peppered with Marianne's own experiences to illustrate how she has interpreted and put into practise some of the course's content, which makes it very easy to read and easy to relate to. She mentions quite a bit about the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 step programme, so it may be of particular interest and support to those in recovery. I also feel that it would be useful for anyone who struggles with co-dependant relationships.
