They say: What is Reiki? Reiki comes from a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Force Energy". This form of healing is believed to have begun in Tibet several thousand years ago and was then rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the mid to late 1800s. He began an extensive twenty-one year study of the healing phenomena of history's greatest spiritual leaders. He also discovered ancient sounds and symbols that are linked to the human nervous system and activate the universal life-energy healing.
Dictionary Terms Explained
- Gentle spiritual healing therapy
Reiki is a gentle energetic, spiritual healing therapy. “Rei” means “unseen” or “spiritual” and “Ki” means “energy” or “life force”. This is often translated as “Universal Life Energy”. The system was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century after three weeks of fasting and meditating on Mount Kurama. Energy flows through the hands to the “patient” or recipient in such a way that the givers energy is not depleted. The therapist keys into the universal energy, not necessarily their own individual energy. This universal energy is seen as intelligent and will heal the patient’s energy field without exact diagnosis. Treatment can be used on people, on yourself, pets and distance healing. The system often uses “attunement” where people are attuned so that they may also give this type of healing. Often symbols are used to help key into certain aspects of this healing art.

Reviews - rated 3/5 based on customer reviews3 out of 5 By Emma, WrexhamReiki Harmony is a pleasant CD, dissolving nicely into the background. It reminds me of the wind whispering through the mountains, providing an atmospheric, slightly Eastern feel which is very simple. If I could sum the CD up in one word, ‘air’ comes to mind. Terry Oldfield plays the Bansuri flutes which remind me of panpies so if you’re a fan of panpipes, you may well enjoy this CD. Other instruments that are played on Reiki Harmony are the keyboards, percussion, tempura and various nature sounds as well as some chanty vocals. It’s what I would call a floaty CD as the tempo is slow and relaxing. In particular the track Om Shanti with this mantra chanted in the background is my favourite. There is an extra copy of the inlay sleeve which sits on the outside packaging of the CD, which I found an unnecessary extra in terms of trees! On the inlay is a very nice reiki quote by a Reiki master which is a nice touch, and a nice reminder, as you open the case. The CD provides a non-intrusive, backdrop for a therapeutic treatment and the music doesn’t confine itself to Reiki, it works well for any treatments, aromatherapy massage, background music for workshops, reflexology or just chilling out reading a book with some nag champa incense!
