One side of the cloth is purple velvet and the other is a lilac satin. Both sides can be used for spreads. The edges are folded over then stitched is a very secure and attractive way. The colours are superb; the lilac satin is bright, clear and rich. The material has a good weight to it and a lovely feel. This means drafts won't blow up the edges, and also protects your cards better when wrapped.

Some people wrap their reading cloth around their cards. Others people prefer to keep their cards in a Tarot bag along with their folded cloth. Tarot reading cloths provide a clean, defined space from which to read.

Many people prefer natural fabrics such as satin, silk or cotton to wrap their cards in as opposed to man made fibers, as they feel the energy they hold is more suited to Tarot reading.

Dimensions: Approximately 60 x 60 cms. When fully laid out there is space for four cards high and six cards across. (Based on standard Tarot cards)

More About the Symbolism of the Colour Purple
Purple is traditionally a royal colour and sign of dignity. Garments made of purple cloth were typically worn by high priests, emperors, military leaders and magistrates in the Roman times, as well as having a strong association with Osiris, and Ancient Egyptian god.

The colour gained its superior authority as dying cloth purple was an expensive process, involving collecting secretions from two types of molluscs, so only the wealthiest people in society could afford to have clothes made of the colour.

In terms of magic, purple is linked to the spiritual dimension, psychic development, wisdom and spiritual strength. People often use the colour, whether through meditation or visualisation, to try and increase their spiritual development and access higher states. Likewise, in the chakra system, purple / violet relates to the crown chakra.
