Back of CD says:
Longtime musician and Grammy Award winning producer, Jim Wilson is committed to the anthropological preservation and development of this own and other Native American cultures. His passion for the rich history of the First People and other tribes is evident in his vibrant compositions that incorporate traditional Native American instruments and drums. Yet it's his coupling of such traditional sounds with electronic beats which truly sets him apart as a leader in Folk, World Beat, New Native and Electronic genres.
"This is a wonderful combination of some of my favourite artists out of Indian Country. A sound that gets right under your skin" - Robbie Robertson

We say: "Little Wolf" is the name of an ensemble of many musicians, some of Native descent, others of Western descent.

By Vernon Marshall View ProfileThere are a number of CDs available today that seek to convey something of the musical culture of the Native American tribes. Some are just too pop-inspired to bear any sense of the original. On the other hand, recordings of original Native American chants can be difficult to enjoy, being as they are, just too far removed from our own Western tastes. From time to time, however, someone gets the balance right, an evocation of Native Americana that is loyal to its origins yet is imaginative enough to be the distinctive creation of its modern composer. Jim Wilson’s work is just that. There is no doubt that this CD is a product of authentic Native American musical styles, yet the added electronic beats, sometimes hardly noticeable, do not detract from that original grounding in tribal music. Sometimes, such CDs are too heavy with the drumming. Not this one, though. This is a gentle, ofttimes dreamy, collection of works. The vocals are magical, and Nashoba Wilson and Joanne Shenandoah in particular deserve credit for this. “Hear Our Prayers” is a beautiful, poignant and gentle piece of work, as is the title piece, “Prayer to the Mystery.” This is one of my favourite CDs, and for no other reason except for its musical excellence, I can heartily commend this CD to anyone interested in beautiful music with a difference.
