The Tarot is a specific system that has 78 cards in total. There are 4 suits (referred to as the minor arcana) and 22 other cards (referred to as the major arcana). Each card represents a specific energy. And each card, through the picture on the card, is trying to help you to feel the specific energy of that card. By Len Leaper View ProfileThis is a Rider Waite aligned deck with drawings by Pamela Coleman Smith and colouring by Mary Hanson Smith. The most striking aspect of this deck is undoubtedly the colouring which lends so much of vibrancy and promotes an undercurrent insistent energy. Happily the drawings have a comfortable naïve quality that enhances the ‘new paintbox’ feel of the beautiful colouring. I feel these cards are perfect as a companion set. They are small by most standards measuring 60cms x 90cms they are really easy to shuffle and lay. The box they arrive in is robust with a removable open top very protective and perfect for travel. The colouring manages to be both inspiring in gentle way and serious in the deeper cards, such as the Moon and Hermit. The Fool my favourite card here of joy and adventure and so also are these cards.
There is the usual small booklet of explanations.
My overall is that this deck represents an extremely useful alternative to the many variations of the Rider Waite a truly delightful deck.
