CD: Nada Himalaya by Deuter

    Product Information

    Total running time: 50 minutes

They say: 'Deuter's spiritual qualities of inner silence and vital meditation are wonderfully reflected in Nada Himalaya. His inimitable ability to make these inner qualities audible in the form of harmonics and vibrations is his greatest talent and his gift to all those who love his music.'Gayan Silvia Winter Author of Meditation for Women

In all cultures bells are the embodiment of spiritual sound. Deuter's bells playing carries you over the continents and the ages to a place high in the Himalayas - perhaps to a Tibetan monastery in old Lhasa - and call down from there as if resonating out of the very heights and depths of being. Beyond the bells there is only the silence. Indeed, they are musical silence. And therefore also musical meditation.

    What Holisticshop staff think

"Now this I feel is good meditation music... to my mind meditation music should not distract you. It should in a sense become a part of you. Nada Himalaya features the constant gently chiming of bells and singing bowls etc. and this resonates right through you. But the music is not dead as it could easily be. It is alive and interesting. It allows you to drift and I would say the words that come to me are 'healing with sound'. Sound vibration at the appropriate intensity and pitch can awaken in us some of our natural peace and inner resonance. So meditating to this music should I hope prove fruitful and fulfilling."

    Dictionary Terms Explained

    Deuter - Musical artist
Deuter is an internationally acclaimed musician and composer who’s recorded and released over 50 albums in his career so far. He specialises in creating New Age music, combining his love for acoustic and electronic instruments with the wonderful sounds of nature and ethnic influences.

Deuter was born in Germany and taught himself to play the guitar, flute and harmonica. Although he always loved music, it wasn’t until he was involved in a near fatal car crash in his early 20s that he finally decided his true vocation in life was to work as a musician. As a result, his first album, D, was released in 1971 and he’s gone on to produce a wide variety of much-loved albums.

Many of Deuter’s early recordings are meditative and contemplative and reflect elements of Deuter’s own spiritual search. He was one of the first musicians to successfully blend together Eastern and Western traditions and much of his music is inspiring, uplifting and full of spirit.

Since his first album in 1971, Deuter has continued to be passionately involved in creating and composing music, bringing out at least one album almost every year since, and his wonderful repertoire is enjoyed by people worldwide.

I just loved this CD and found it fantastic for meditation; indeed my meditations went very deep when I used it. I find that some meditation CDs can be a little distracting when the tracks change and I often find myself subconsciously, and involuntarily, listening for certain favourite tracks, after using a CD a few times, rather than remaining in a deeply meditative state. With Nada Himalaya, however, these problems do not manifest as there are no recognisable melodies as such, just the soothing continuous ebb and flow of gently chiming bells, singing bowls and other instruments, which help your mind to slow and settle into meditation easily. The sounds quickly transported me to a location high in the Himalayas where I experienced a place of perfect tranquillity. My meditative state was so deep that I felt I was actually sitting in a Tibetan Monastery where I was able to sit quietly and wonder at the amazing vista of snow-covered, cloud-topped mountains. Despite having the music playing, I felt that I was sitting there in complete, healing silence and all the stresses and problems of real life were a million miles away. Another thing I liked about this CD was the subtle change of sounds about 3 minutes from the end, which was a perfect way to signal that I should start to return to the present, ready to end my meditation. I would recommend this CD particularly to anyone who finds the sounds of bells and singing bowls restful and relaxing. It may sound a little strange at first to those who are used to using guided meditation CDs or who are used to listening to CDs with definite melodies, but I feel it is perfect to assist you to reach deep within......more
