There are plenty of books about meditation but they throw lots of words around. The only way to get a feel for meditation is through experiencing something of its ambience. A DVD is a worthy means of being introduced to meditation as it calls on several of the senses. The visuals, the music and the soft words all help to create the reflective calm required for the true escape from the daily round. Simonette Vaja does this quite well in this DVD, introducing us to meditation in a gentle manner, supported by beautiful scenery and invocative music.
This DVD is an excellent learning aide for the beginner. It brings into play, for example, the important role of breath. Five different meditations are used, mostly dependent upon the art of visualisation. The critic may say that there are other forms of meditation that are not even mentioned. Indeed there are, but for a beginner this DVD is a valid means of getting the practice started. In this televisual age we do tend to need visual support in order to learn and practise. Simonette Vaja has an easy and comfortable manner that makes the teaching easy to follow and to imitate. As an extra "treat" there is, at the end of the DVD, material about her self expression courses. This is inviting, but I have no idea where such courses are to be found and even if there are any held in this country. I will be recommending this DVD to a few of the students in my weekly meditation group to use at those times when all else fail. 5 out of 5 By Jacqui,LondonThis DVD is superb and I listen to it several times a week. I am unemployed and suffer from a voice dystonia which has lead me to feel very depressed and worthless. This mediation is so relaxing and it empties my mind of all negativity. I do not feel the negativity any more and go through the day concentrating on my breathing when I feel anxious.

The first time I played it I was in bed and didn't even get to the end before I was fast asleep. I enjoyed the scenes for their natural beauty and the music is wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone who is starting out in meditation like me.

However, with Simonette Vaja's DVD I found that it helped to relax and release stress. Her voice is incrediby soothing, the scenery is absolutely beautiful and I especially like that you can do a short meditation if time is limited. I find however that I end up doing it for longer as it so calming and peaceful. Best wishes to all at Holistic shop and all who visit it.
