Origin & History
Marjoram is currently grown in countries such as Egypt, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Morocco and Tunsia although there is some debate as to where it originated. It is said that the ancient Egyptians used Marjoram with medicines, toiletries and perfumes, and similarly the ancient Greeks used it as an antidote to poison, to treat convulsions, spasms and excess fluid. They would also weave Marjoram into a wedding crown for the newly married as a token of good fortune. Over the years, Marjoram has been continually used as a medical remedy and was believed to fortify the mind. To this day, it is used extensively within perfumery, cosmetics, food and within pharmaceutical industries.
Marjoram can add a lovely herby note to your blends. Try mixing this with lavender, bergamot, rosewood, cedarwood, chamomile, cypress, mandarin, orange, nutmeg, rosemary and ylang ylang.
How to Store Your Oils: Essential oils can be quite delicate substances and factors such as strong light, heat, air and moisture can affect them. They are best kept in a cool, dark and dry place ideally in a box and in a cupboard. We wouldn't recommend transferring your essential oils into plastic bottles as the plastic can interact with the chemical makeup of your essential oils and may cause the plastic to deteriorate. Keeping them in their dark, amber bottle with the lid will prolong their life. Oils that are stored in the correct condition should last for years (citrus oils have a slightly shorter life).
Size: 10ml, presented in an amber glass bottle.
