Origin & History
The Lavender shrub is native to the Mediterranean coast and is extensively cultivated in England and France for its fragrance in perfumery, medicine and cosmetics. Lavender oil was favoured among the Romans for its cleansing properties and was widely used as a disinfectant within hospitals; its aroma was popularly used within their bath houses. It is thought to be the Romans who introduced Lavender to England and Northern Europe. For many centuries Lavender has been continually used both for its fragrance and as a medicinal ingredient.
Lavender is compatible with most oils and can add a light floral note to most blends; for best results you could try blending with lemon, bergamot, lime, bay, citronella, grapefruit, mandarin, nutmeg, patchouli, thyme, coriander, rosemary, marjoram, tea tree, pine, orange, chamomile, balm, geranium, clary sage.
It is generally not considered to be a sensual oil, so it may not blend well with other sensual oils such as jasmine and sandalwood.
How to Store Your Oils: Essential oils can be quite delicate substances and factors such as strong light, heat, air and moisture can affect them. They are best kept in a cool, dark and dry place ideally in a box and in a cupboard. We wouldn't recommend transferring your essential oils into plastic bottles as the plastic can interact with the chemical makeup of your essential oils and may cause the plastic to deteriorate. Keeping them in their dark, amber bottle with the lid will prolong their life. Oils that are stored in the correct condition should last for years (citrus oils have a slightly shorter life).
Size: 10ml, presented in an amber glass bottle.
