Smudge Stick Contains: Blue Sage/Grandmother Sage & Juniper
Smudging is a ceremony used to clear away negative energies and to attract ones that are more positive. Native Americans have traditionally used many herbs for this purpose, each one having a different effect on the aura and inner being. You may burn a smudge stick directly from the end (extinguish carefully afterwards), or break off fragments to burn in a container such as a shell. When smudging, try to feel connected with a power greater than yourself. You may say prayers while using a feather, or simply the palm of your hand, to brush the smoke over you.
Smudge sticks can be used for cleansing of the aura, for example before meditation or prayer, or they quite often these days used by body workers and therapists. They can also be used for cleansing a house or dwelling and are often used in this way in Feng Shui.
Please Note: Due to the nature of the Juniper plant, you may find that the smudge stick can be quite loose.
Blue Sage or Grandmother Sage - Cleansing of Negativety or Exorcism
Juniper - Summon the Thunderbird; call storms
How do I use my Smudge Stick?
Firstly, light your smudge stick or loose leaves if you have chosen to break off fragments of your smudge stick into a container. Wait a moment, then blow out the flames. Try to fan the embers lightly to keep them smoldering (you may have to re-light your stick). You can then use the smoke to cleanse a person, property or spaces - you can use a shell or a heat resistant container to catch the ashes.

Dictionary Terms Explained
- Sacred, safety
The juniper bush can be found growing in numerous parts of the Northern Hemisphere. On average, it's four to six feet high and tends to grow in limestone soil.
It's been traditionally used by many cultures to create a safe and sacred environment, and ward off negative influences. Native Americans use juniper leaves during sweat lodge ceremonies, where they were added to the hot rocks to release their delicate scent. The leaves were also used during many ceremonies to rid the area of any negativity and bring forth a positive and healing air.
As an incense, it can be used by anyone wanting to create a peaceful and secure environment for meditation or healing, or merely for its distinctive aroma.

Reviews - rated 4/5 based on customer reviews4 out of 5 By Gina TilsteadAs a smudging herb I found Juniper Leaf to be a totally relaxing warm scent. While using it I could feel it's purifying and protection qualities and I felt engulfed with a total sense of relaxation and calmness. I feel that Juniper Leaf would be ideal to burn prior to meditation or journeying or to cleanse a room for protection prior to a group meeting or maybe a healing, although if you do this it would be best to do it well in advance as it does create quite a bit of sacred smoke! It would be a lovely to burn this while doing a healing out in Nature or a Sacred Ceremony.
