Juniper leaf, cut and sifted (1 oz / 28 grams)
Juniper leaf (2) - Sacred, safety
The juniper bush can be found growing in numerous parts of the Northern Hemisphere. On average, it's four to six feet high and tends to grow in limestone soil.
It's been traditionally used by many cultures to create a safe and sacred environment, and ward off negative influences. Native Americans use juniper leaves during sweat lodge ceremonies, where they were added to the hot rocks to release their delicate scent. The leaves were also used during many ceremonies to rid the area of any negativity and bring forth a positive and healing air.
As an incense, it can be used by anyone wanting to create a peaceful and secure environment for meditation or healing, or merely for its distinctive aroma.
Native Scents (27) -
Native Scents is a company centred in New Mexico, USA and is made up of a network of Native American wildcrafters from Canada to South America who collect plants in an ecological and respectful way. Wildcrafting is a term which means that the herbs and plants are collected in such a way that the source is sustainable. For example this means not pulling up root systems, harvesting just enough so that the plant will continue to thrive and generally caring for each plant source. Because of the scarcity of some of the traditional Native American herbs and plants we feel this attitude to be absolutely essential as some companies are actually damaging the environment because they are putting profit first.
We consistently find their herbs and smudge sticks to be of the highest and most exquisite quality.

By Gina Tilstead View ProfileAs a smudging herb I found Juniper Leaf to be a totally relaxing warm scent. While using it I could feel it's purifying and protection qualities and I felt engulfed with a total sense of relaxation and calmness. I feel that Juniper Leaf would be ideal to burn prior to meditation or journeying or to cleanse a room for protection prior to a group meeting or maybe a healing, although if you do this it would be best to do it well in advance as it does create quite a bit of sacred smoke! It would be a lovely to burn this while doing a healing out in Nature or a Sacred Ceremony.

By John Young As a practising Native American Medicine Man in the UK this site has proved itself invaluable. This is a high quality product harvested in an environmental and sacred way, as it must be to be used to it's potential in ceremonies. Meets my needs perfectly, highly recommended.
This herb has many ceremonial uses, and a calming subtle aroma. Like many herbs from this species of plant it produces a significant ammount of smoke so only a very small ammount should normally be used.
