At £12.99, this book appears to be an excellent resource in terms of the number of retreats in the U.K. which are described, and the wide range of type of retreat available, including Anglican, Buddhist, Christian, Eco-Spirituality, Ecumenical, Hindu, Inter-denominational, Judaic-Christian, Methodist, Mind Body Soul, Non-Religious, Open Spirituality, Orthodox Christian, Quaker, Roman Catholic, Scottish Churches, Yoga. Useful publications and contact groups are listed, plus some information regarding retreats abroad, covering a smaller range and they appear to be mainly from traditional religious orders (monastries). The bulk of the Guide contains individual retreat descriptions for places in Britain and Ireland. These aren't particularly long, nor are there any pictures or photos, but each description follows the same format, which allows for ease of comparison. Along with the address and telephone number (and a prominent 'star' symbol if the retreat is considered 'highly recommended') is the religious/faith category or non-religious affiliation, a description of the centre and what it offers in terms of activities or description of the daily life of the permanent residents (e.g. if nuns, friars, Buddhist monks). The category headings per retreat include:
