I own numerous oracle decks and I have had lots of decks to review over the years. There have been few that I could not use but there have been many that I have enjoyed. It would have needed something very different and imaginative to draw my interest to a new deck. This deck by Steven D. Farmer, however, is that something different and imaginative. Each card represents an earth element and includes a one or two word description of the essence associated with it. Thus, the “Tree” card represents “Grounding” whilst the “Ocean” card represents “Ebb and Flow.” The “Meadow” card represents “Vulnerability” whilst the “Wind” cards represents activation. Just one card alone is adequate for meditation purposes and I have had a good deal of satisfaction and spiritual renewal from using these cards for that purpose alone. For divination purposes, the instructions are so clear and the method so simple that the cards can be used by anyone, a beginner or an experienced reader. These cards are very beautifully designed. There are numerous illustrators, almost one for each card, and the book lists them all, along with their websites. The book is an excellent manual, with a short description of a page, followed by instructions to the reader as to how the quality of that earth element can be drawn into one’s life. There are several spreads, all of them simple and logical. Within just a few minutes after preparing and clearing this deck the reader can be making gentle spiritual progress. Of all the oracle decks I have worked with this is one of the finest and I can recommend it to anyone who wishes to move forward with their spiritual development without wishing to use the more complex systems of divination.

I bought these as an alternative to the more themed oracle cards I have (Goddess/Angel). Much as I love my other decks I didn't want to always be referring to what each image 'stood' for; I wanted a more instinctive pack. This is perfect, the booklet actually encourages intuitive reading which I found liberating. Each card does have a lyrical description of the art work, as well as a passage covering a general 'vibe' for each card, but really it is your gut reaction to the spread that is most important. The artwork is generally super; at times breathtaking. All the images are easy to identify with making reading really simple (and natural). I have to say I love them. They are really refreshing to read with. I will certainly be looking out for more of Steven Farmer's work. Did I mention they arrived the day after I ordered them, and the service I received was excellent? Mind you, this is the Holisticshop website; what more do you expect?! (Thanks guys! Blessed be!)
