How My Death Saved My Life by Denise Linn
"This is an earthy (sometimes gritty), yet spiritually uplifting book. How my Death Saved my Life is written by a person with respect for humanity and is an autobiography in the true sense - that charts Denise Linn’s life right from childhood through to her recent life. It is very honest and it is clear the author has really opened up her inner most being to create it.
Her whole life is covered - from childhood to early adulthood, and then until now. But unlike some books, where you find yourself wishing they would skip the early years and get onto the recent times, I found myself genuinely interested in the things that made her who she is.
How my Death Saved my Life is a story of triumph over adversity. Working as I do in the spiritual field, I like to know that people who are getting lots of media interest and are becoming well known are the “real deal” and I am convinced that Denise Linn is such a person. I believe this book may give hope to those who have suffered some form of abuse that it is possible to overcome our own personal history and find hope and happiness. One passage from the book, that appeared fairly early on, that I liked and I feel is worth repeating here was said to Denise by her Grandmother:
"You see, in nature, a tree that survives hard times, such as droughts or strong storms, will often be stronger than a tree that has grown in perfect conditions. During a drought or high winds, for example, the roots will go deeper into the earth to reach water or to add stability to the tree. The trees that have the deepest roots are usually the strongest. The difficult experiences that you’ve had and will have in the future will build your character and allow your spiritual roots to go deep."" - Brett

By Vernon Marshall View ProfileWords almost fail me when I strive to describe this book. It is an inspiring and remarkable book. Denise Linn has become one of the most impressive and inspirational teachers in the world today. She has changed the lives of millions of people and continues to do so. This work is her autobiography and she holds nothing back in describing her many sources of knowledge and understanding. She takes the reader on a journey from her difficult childhood years through some harsh and painful lifetime experiences. She has learnt from her life's events, though, and has been enabled to transform her life into something great.
I was moved by her stories of her abuse as a child, how they made her feel disgusted with herself and ashamed. The account of her mother attempting suicide was powerfully written. The story of her suddenly asking an acquaintance to marry her, which they did the next day, was not only deeply moving but very romantic. Stripping naked under a waterfall on the Hawaiian island of Maui to be declared husband and wife was an incredibly impressive story. She is still married to him incidentally, and his surname, Linn, is a Celtic word for waterfall.
There is so much in this book. I cannot wait to find time to read it again. I shall always go back to it when I need support. It has inspired me to read her other material. Denise Linn is a giant when it comes to human wisdom and this is very, very special. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to get the best out of life.
