Cypress Organic Pure Essential Oil (10ml) - Cupressus Sempervirens
Cypress has a woody and pleasantly smoky aroma with nutty and deep earthy top notes.
Cypress is known as a soothing oil that can aid in times of change, easing the mind during difficult transitions such as moving home, changing jobs or comforting during bereavement. Similarly to Citronella, it also has deodorizing properties that can help cleanse skin, is good for excessive perspiration and can refresh tired and sweaty feet.
It can be useful to aid respiratory problems such as asthma and whooping coughs, as well as in the treatment of menopausal symptoms and problems such as hot flushes, tension and irritability.
Origin & History
Cypress oil is distilled from the needles, cones, leaves or twigs of the tall evergreen tree which can be found throughout the Mediterranean in France, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Cypress is known to be an ancient symbol of solace; it is said that the Romans and ancient Egyptians dedicated this to the afterlife and symbolized "everlastingness". Egyptians used the wood to build their coffins, the ancient Greeks and Romans used this when building their houses and furniture whilst the Cretans and Phoenicians used the wood when building their ships. It is still used by the Tibeans as a purification incense and for many years was highly valued as a medicine in ancient civilizations.
Cypress blends well with other members of the 'tree' family oils; you could try it with benzoin, bergamot, cinnamon, cypress, frankincense, jasmine, juniper, lavender, lemon, linden blossom, neroli, rose and rosemary.
How to Store Your Oils: Essential oils can be quite delicate substances and factors such as strong light, heat, air and moisture can affect them. They are best kept in a cool, dark and dry place ideally in a box and in a cupboard. We wouldn't recommend transferring your essential oils into plastic bottles as the plastic can interact with the chemical makeup of your essential oils and may cause the plastic to deteriorate. Keeping them in their dark, amber bottle with the lid will prolong their life. Oils that are stored in the correct condition should last for years (citrus oils have a slightly shorter life).
Size: 10ml, presented in an amber glass bottle.
