Review(s) for CD: The Unicorn Meditation

Review posted by Sophie Elena View Profile

This cd contains two lovely meditations, which take the form of guided visualisations. The cd begins by providing information about unicorns, their function in our lives, how to recognise them, what their power can be used for, and how to connect with them. This information precedes the meditations, which are accompanied by lovely guitar and flute music.

Diana feels strongly that each individual human needs to raise their personal consciousness and become attuned to energies such as those offered by the unicorns, in order to restore planet earth to her glory. Diana, therefore, impeaches you as you listen to her words, to further develop your intuitive powers and make a commitment to helping the earth achieve harmony.

The first meditation introduces the listener to their guides and may help you learn the name of your unicorn, and provide the opportunity for you to take away something of spiritual significance to aid your further learning, from the treasure chest you uncover during the visualisation. The second meditation provides further opportunity to connect with higher energies, and again with the beautiful unicorns.

Personally, although I was extremely keen to discover more about unicorns, having been attracted to and involved with horses since a young girl, I found Diana’s voice a bit too authoritarian, and whilst this was fine for the informational part of the cd, I found her vocal approach during the meditations too close to that which I have experienced during hypnotherapy, and despite being an experienced meditator and facilitator of individual and group guided meditations, I found myself unable to stay in a suitably meditative state during the two meditations on this cd. It is possible that the time is not right for me to connect with unicorn energy, or perhaps I simply do not gel with Diana’s voice/vibration. I have listened to the cd a number of times, and have listened individually to the two meditations, but found the same experience repeated itself. In order to provide a balanced review, I therefore asked another experienced meditator to work with the cd, and whilst she was able to stay with the visualisations and not come out of the meditations, it took her until the second listening of each meditation before she could stay with the whole visualisation, experiencing the same sense of too authoritarian-like a voice which she found off-putting - ‘teacher-like’ she described it.

I have enjoyed Diana Cooper’s books, and this is the first of her cds which I have heard. I will listen to others of her’s to see if I form a different opinion about her voice in meditations. I would still recommend this cd, but perhaps it would be wise to listen to a clip on the website before purchasing, to be sure her voice suits your style.
