Review(s) for I Can Mend your Broken Heart (with CD)
I was rather sceptical about doing the review for this book, thinking to myself, how on earth can it alter my feelings - so I began to read with a semi closed mind and a feeling of 'oh well - I suppose I can try it'.
How to mend your broken heart consists of 7 chapters:
· What is Heartbreak
· How do I stop feeling so bad
· What is the point of these feelings
· How do I cope with my ex
· Why did it happen to me, and how can I stop it happening again
· How can I feel better about myself
· Falling in love again
Also included are case studies and exercises/visualisations. I have taken a few weeks to read through the book and to allow time to practice the exercises, so enabling me to give a review worthy of the book. I don't want to give away any of the exercises here, it is for you to read, but I will say one particular visualisation technique has worked amazingly well for me; it is called Re-imagining your Ex. It takes you through a 6-step exercise. It's a very simple yet extremely effective task, as soon as my ex comes into my mind I follow Paul McKenna's advice and take myself through the steps, I have found each time I do this, my feelings towards this person change. I cannot stress enough how beneficial this would be, to someone from a more volatile relationship or at least, one where your ex has wanted control of the relationship. As I mentioned earlier, I was very sceptical about this book, but not anymore! The authors are honest about their advice, and do stress that they don't have the miracle cure for Heartbreak, just advice from a personal and professional level. I could give so much more detail here about this book, but I have chosen not to, simply because I would prefer you to read the book for yourself. It is a truly fascinating read, regardless of whether or not you are going through the after effects of a relationship breaking up. This book teaches us the 'how's' and 'why's' of the emotions felt after a split, and how to find the path of recovery. My view of my ex has changed dramatically, and I now feel an immense sense of peace in replace of a fear of beginning another relationship. A broken heart? Me? No, not anymore, a highly recommended read.
