Lying in bed one evening, I clearly heard the word TEST in my left ear! Sitting up in bed suddenly, and slightly alarmed, I looked around my bedroom to discover – as I suspected, no one was in the bedroom with me.
Naturally psychic from childhood, I was having a ‘spiritual upgrade’! I work with my spirit guides and guardian angels on a daily basis and hear them talk to me every day. Do I have some sort of special powers? No! We all have our own spirit guides and guardian angels – but I guess you suspected as much already, didn’t you?
Before birth we discuss plans for life in our next Earthly body. Our spirit guide is a helper, and a long-term teacher and close friend in the spirit realms – someone we know, and who knows us very well indeed. Their job is to watch over us during our lifetime and help to steer us on our chosen path.
"Why can’t I see my spirit guide or remember any of this then?"
Good question! When we are born, we bring with us a ‘veil of forgetfulness.’ We are not supposed to remember where we come from, but it is relevant to our spiritual growth that we discover it somewhere along the path. Imagine how confused you would be if you retained information of your home in spirit, leaving loved ones behind you in the spirit realms (or heaven, as some people would call it). ‘Home-sickness’ would certainly get in the way of our planned tasks here on Earth. In heaven, life is eternal LOVE – life as a human being is very hard work indeed! It has to be that way – how else would we learn anything? Being in a body is a special privilege however. A human body gives us the opportunity to experience a whole range of emotions not available elsewhere.
Our earthly life consists of pre-planned challenges for the most part. We lay down a ‘skeleton framework’ of tasks for learning. You may plan a life where you work on COMPASSION perhaps, or a lifetime working on TRUST. The role of our spirit guides is to prompt us, and keep us on track. – but not to interfere. Our spirit guides work on subtle levels of communication however, and we often choose to ignore – or miss their advice completely.
Ever had an urge to avoid a particular person through ‘gut instinct’? Choose NOT to buy a certain car, because is doesn’t FEEL right – decide not to get on that certain plane or take a particular train journey? After major accidents around the world, many people confess that they chose NOT to follow through with certain plans because of that inner knowing, or a premonition. Our spirit guides work with us every day to communicate life-saving and route-planning information, and we can all learn to hear this information more clearly if we chose to.
Everyone receives information in their own unique way. Some folks are good at seeing images in their mind; others have enhanced verbal or mental abilities. Your own guides will try a variety of ways to reach you through the veil, and they are watching closely to see if or how you respond to this information. Our guides need to know that their contribution has been received loud and clear, so remember to say THANK YOU after each near miss or warning.
Our guides follow an unwritten code too – we have what is called FREE WILL, which means that we make all our own decisions. If you need help on day to day issues you have to ask for it directly, otherwise they cannot interfere. Be prepared for unconventional answers to your questions – your guides may know a better way of doing things!
Our guides are always loving and kind, if you hear a voice which tells you bad or evil things make sure you see your doctor or spiritual counsellor immediately!
Your guide will be ecstatically happy to be recognised and acknowledged. Give them a name – or ask them for a name…go with your first instinct, and just KNOW that you are right. You can never be lonely knowing you have your own personal support team with you always. Work with your spirit guides, listen to their comfort and wisdom and let them hold your hand on your life’s journey.
