By Brett Almond View ProfileI enjoyed this book. I took it away when I went on holiday with the family to the Pyrenees in France, and managed to read most of it in a week, which is no mean feat with 3 little girls bombing around! This book is split into two parts. The first part takes you from page 1-179 and the second part takes you from page 180-274. I raced through the first part and was really intrigued to see the paths that Doreen Virtue's life had taken. I particularly enjoyed reading about how her upbringing was based on a religion 'the Church of Religious Science', which believes very strongly in healing through prayer. This part explores how as she hits her teenage years typical teenage things like parties and drink and drugs are tempting her, and how she deals with this and the conflict it causes with her family's fairly strict code of conduct. This first part is autobiographical, but I was inspired by her perseverance and determination to overcome the struggles she faced later with relationships. One major thing I learnt from this book is that sometimes you have to almost go beyond affirmations and actually believe things to be a certain way. Don't just affirm that you are happy, give thanks for being happy and actually see yourself that way. Get right into the moment right now. There are also stories of her encounters with people like Marian Williamson, Louise Hay and Wayne Dyer, who are all household names now (well maybe not in everyone's household!), and how they inspired her.
It was really in part 2 that I became a little unstuck. I wanted really to go on and read more autobiographical stuff. But the second part changes into a different kind of an animal where things......more

By Kate Carter-Brown View ProfileWhen I started this book my initial thoughts were that it was an autobiography of the author; however, this was quickly dispelled and the reading was compulsive; I didn't put it down for 3 days!! Insights into healing, mediumship, psychic readings and thought provoking passages made this book into one of those that will remain in my library of healing books, and one that I will come back to. It made me think, it struck a chord as most of my healing is done through Reiki and psychic readings, and I identify with some of the authors experiences, both in life generally and through therapy. The author's early struggles with life in general and the outcome have given me food for thought, and although some areas of the book left me feeling 'Yeah, and I believe that!' I have no hesitation in recommending it to healers, would-be healers or people who 'feel' drawn to the subject of healing in general.
