I have a number of books on Shamanism, but the quality of them has varied enormously. This short book by Alberto Villoldo is of a better quality than many. It is not a "you-can-do-anything" type of book that claims to make you a shaman in a few weeks but a clearly explained description of the fundamentals of Shamanism and how they are integrated into a working practice. It is made clear that the reader cannot become a shaman without years as an apprentice with an experienced practitioner. The energy referred to can bring chaos if wrongly utilised. Nevertheless, the "luminous energy field" has great potential, and the writer demonstrates this with experiences from his Shamanistic practice. The book is the clearest explication of the Chakras that I have read for some time, with indications of how they are integral to different aspects of life, including death and dying.

At Ł7.99 (RRP) and with less than 250 pages, this book is a real treasure for those who wish to understand Shamanism better, and for those who are considering seeking to serve life by training in the Shamanism arts.
