Reiki - the essential guide
Reiki - Gentle spiritual healing therapy
Reiki is a gentle energetic, spiritual healing therapy. “Rei” means “unseen” or “spiritual” and “Ki” means “energy” or “life force”. This is often translated as “Universal Life Energy”. The system was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century after three weeks of fasting and meditating on Mount Kurama. Energy flows through the hands to the “patient” or recipient in such a way that the givers energy is not depleted. The therapist keys into the universal energy, not necessarily their own individual energy. This universal energy is seen as intelligent and will heal the patient’s energy field without exact diagnosis. Treatment can be used on people, on yourself, pets and distance healing. The system often uses “attunement” where people are attuned so that they may also give this type of healing. Often symbols are used to help key into certain aspects of this healing art.

By Colin Mills View ProfileThis book is and ideal guide for beginners or those who are already trained in this Amazing healing art. At 160 pages it is packed with so much information that it is hard to decide where to start. There are three main parts to this book.
Part 1. Explains what Reiki is, The Attunements, also the history of Reiki, and compares it to other healing methods, also personal healing. Part 2. This part is devoted to all the aspects of healing, with a section on Self-development and spiritual growth. (This I found particularly interesting?)
Part 3. Cover's the 1st 2nd and 3rd Degree Training. From the first attunement right through to the Masters training. As I am writing this review and awaiting my Reiki 1 in a couple of day's time, I just had to read this book twice before submitting my review. The writers of this book were drawn to Reiki, after the death of one of their parents. The story of their journey, and the establishing of The Reiki School in the UK is an amazing one. I have to confess I am a bit biased on this book, and it would be quite easy for me to give you more information here about it. But this is a book, that should grace the bookshelf of anyone who has ever wondered what Reiki is, or if they feel they have been drawn to it. A friend told me 'Quote' 'Reiki found you' and I truly believe that, and after reading this book, even more so; a wonderful book to read and to own.
