CD: LLEWELLYN - Journey to the Angels

This is one of the best albums from the prolific Llewellyn and Juliana. It's a masterpiece of ambient mood music that perfectly demonstrates what their gift for channelling is all about. I've played this CD over and over again. You will probably wear it out, too. For some reason it makes me think of “Adagio for Strings” by Samuel Barber. Not because it steals anything from the classical work, but because it also sounds like it's just coming from somewhere else. The sense Llewellyn has of the angelic is so different to that of Aeoliah, whose 1998 Angel love album seemed to herald the emerging fascination with all things celestial. So you don't feel like your wrapped in warm cotton wool listening to Journey to the Angels. The affect it has is one of shaking you awake, with its pretty opening soon giving way to At the Golden Gates, the albums incandescent moment, (turn the volume up on this track - don't worry about the neighbours!) Like the Barber there's the economical use of a few ideas repeated in a kind of loose rondo. Unlike the Barber there's no bittersweet agony, although if you really listen, somewhere in there is a sigh of regret for the mistakes of you and me living in the predicament of this world. Swirling birdsong and bubbling streams provide relief in a work that's great for visualisation exercises. I saw Llewellyn and Juliana perform at the Arthur Findlay college near Stansted recently, and they have an amazing energy. It's about as far from gangsta rap as it gets.

Journey to the Angels is one of my most favourite CDs. It is excellent when I am doing my Reiki. I feel completely surrounded by Angels. The music is ethereal and winsome, beautiful and haunting. I am immediately transported to Angelic Realms every time I listen to it. I thoroughly and highly recommend it.
