CD: NAMASTE - Magical Healing Mantras

Sometimes in your life, you feel prompted to look at(or listen to) something in particular, and its been a few months now since I first heard that there were modern recordings of Mantras, and felt sure that I had to listen to them. They are not that easy to find, and holisticshop is one of those special places, where you can track down stuff like this. Believe me, it's worth doing. You do not have to be 'into' mantras, or anything that goes with them religiously, this is quite simply one of the most beautiful, melodic – and joyful CDs I have ever heard.

New Earth Records produce quite a lot of CDs for the relaxation and meditation market, and there is no doubt that this is great music to take your meditations further and deeeper, if you should so wish. But actually, it's also great music to bake to, vacuum the house, weed the garden and generally great as a background, while you do all the wonderful things that make life worth living. The thought of music that is basically religious might be off-putting, but there is nothing stiff or cold about these melodies. Although they are basically religious chants, they are also very much music that celebrates and affirms life. I remember reading that the Dalai lama has 'a favourite mantra', and beginning to wonder... Well, now I know. This CD went straight into my own list of personal all round favourites, and given that they are diverse, and life throws a lot of curved balls, that is quite an achievement.
