They say: Women Who Run With The Wolves is undoubtedly one of the most widely acclaimed and most influential books of recent years. It has been heralded as the seminal work on the inner life of women. A work of both poetry and power, it began a revolution and continues to transform the lives of millions round the world.

Clarissa Pinkola Estes is a Jungian psychoanalyst and cantadora (keeper of the old stories), of many years standing. She reveals how within every woman there lives a Wild Woman, filled with passionate creativity and ageless knowing - but repressed for centuries by a value system that trivializes emotional truth, intuitive wisdom and instinctual self-confidence. Dr Estes's extraordinary and enriching bestseller shows how, through her foremost interpretation of story and her psychological commentary, we can reclaim, and rejoice in, our true feminine power - how we can awaken within the depths of our souls one who is both magic and medicine.

A wonderful book...for anybody who cares about their relationships and their lives' Anne Devlin, playwright

By Zena Greene View Profile
This book has to be one of the most exciting ever written. It was first published in 1992, and has since become a classic must-read for women everywhere. Doctor Estes is a Jungian psychoanalyst and storyteller. She approaches her work by looking at traditional stories, and asking readers how these resonate for us. 'Fairy stories' carry so many dark images, and the stories she focuses on are not ‘sugar and spice’. All human possibilities are contained in these old tales, - and all the human behaviour that flows from falling into those roles. As Estes re-tells the stories, she allows us to follow her as she takes them apart, so that every reader can learn what they need from each parable. But this is a book that is unforgettable and impossible to put down, and readers will find themselves looking ahead into the story even before she has analysed it. Every reader will step into the stories and look inside themselves to see what lessons that story has to offer them. This is story-telling as Medicine, story-telling at its best, and a wonderful guide to the process of individuation. A book to read and reflect on, or to share with anyone – man or woman - that you care about.
