The Angel Oracle - CARDS & BOOK SET
Review (last 5 for this product, read more)

By Cate Gardner View ProfileA divinatory system based on angels has both advantages and disadvantages. For a start, calling upon angelic assistance is for many instantly familiar, an almost instinctive response that goes back to our earliest childhood. For those new to divination it is a much more reassuring prospect than what could be the initially alarming symbols of the Tarot. In the oracle’s instruction book Ambika Wauters says a young friend of hers, aged 12, told her she loved angels "because they were absolutely safe". Indeed, the tone throughout is unbroken love and guidance. Our personal guiding angel is "always there for us", Ambika points out. However this very positive attitude itself tends for a sameness of tone rather than a lot of light and dark. This oracle aims to always give you good advice, it'll never give you bad news.
The cards themselves tend to be very similar, in this regard. I found differentiating between some of them more a matter of subtle nuances than of strikingly opposed forces. More accustomed to Tarot symbolism, I was inclined to dismiss as 'well-intentioned' therefore, until a trial reading, that is. I was quite surprised at just how appropriate the meanings showed themselves to be. The unmitigated positive approach is unavoidably uplifting and reassuring (yes, the restaurant may be ablaze but you are being calmly ushered, in good time, towards the fire exits by those polite, smiling waiters). An interesting experience that leaves you calm and upbeat about life.
Kate Bush (a fairly heavenly being herself to some, it would appear) put it, as she called for protection and guidance on her last album, the Red Shoes: 'Gabriel before me, Raphael behind me, Michael to my right, Uriel on my left side...' That’s good enough for me!

By Claire, Guernsey I own several Tarot decks (the White Cat is my favourite) but just have to leave a note about The Angel Oracle. Not only does the set look and feel gorgeous with its extra big glossy cards and beautiful artwork, but the readings are genuinely astounding (there's one particular reading I've done several times over the last year and the same 3 cards have come out every time - and they make perfect sense). As previous reviewers have said, you don't need any special knowledge to use them, but boy do they work! I've also slept with these under my pillow on a few 'needful' occasions and had very psychic dreams. If you're wary of the Tarot or in need of help and reassurance, then I'd thoroughly recommend The Angel Oracle (especially if you are a Christian or had a Christian upbringing, as you'll find it very easy to connect with).
