Tibetan Ting-Sha & Book Set
Review (last 5 for this product, read more)

By Sophie Elena View ProfileI've often come across these small brass/metallic finger cymbals at holistic/health shows and wondered as to their purpose and quite what to do with them. This wonderful boxed set provided all the answers I needed and more!Firstly, do not be tempted to take the cymbals out of the box and clang them loudly and insensitively together as I did, otherwise when you read the accompanying book you will feel suitably admonished! You have been warned – please learn from my mistake!! These sacred cymbals were traditionally used by Tibetan Buddhist monks for meditation purposes and in calling the user to self-awareness – the book suggests that the sound of the Ting-Sha resonates with the heart, and in so doing, encourages mindful remembrance of who we really are, and our true priorities in life. I have certainly found that the best use for the Ting-Sha is when I make the time to sit and meditate, as the sound produced and the calm effort required to make the required sustained note, brings me to a lovely place within myself. Sometimes, though, just taking a few moments to break from the p.c. or other work and sounding the cymbals once or twice when stressed has brought upliftment and a smile! I found the cymbals to have the most beautiful, bright, piercing, crisp yet mellow tone, and I have spent many happy times since receiving the Ting-Sha practising, as the book suggests, a soft side-on-side strike of one cymbal against the other, in order to produce a note which resonates for the desired 12 seconds. I improved from six to nine seconds, and when calm and relaxed, I can sometimes amaze myself with a 12 second sustain. This gives a great sense of peace and achievement! The pair of cymbals weighs 7½ ounces......more
