Tarot of the Thousand and One Nights - CARDS

This is a bright and energetic deck of cards which will appeal to anyone who loves artwork with a Moorish feel. The Major Arcana are very detailed and suggest a definite story-line unlike some other decks. I was very definitely reminded of childhood and stories like 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves'.

The Minor Arcana is a little problematic in that the illustrations are not reminiscent of Rider-Waite and it isn't always easy to see what the card is trying to say. Thankfully each card has its name in six languages. The most confusing thing is that all the Minor Arcana cards have the same border in both pattern and colour so there is no immediate differentiation between the elements of Fire, Water, Earth and Air. It would have been so easy to make this a spectacularly useful deck by just changing the colour of the border on each suit.

However the artwork is pleasing and detailed and this will undoubtedly be a must for the true Tarot collector.
