Mythic Tarot Deck - CARDS
Review (last 5 for this product, read more)

By Brian Stevenson View ProfileThis deck is full of life, and meaning. In many Tarot packs some of the illustrations show images of people that are simple static portraits of a person. This is not the case with The Mythic Tarot as every card shows Greek gods, goddesses, people and mythical creatures in a wide variety of dramatic situations. Everyone shown is either engaged in some activity or about to take a potentially difficult decision about something.
The colouring is vivid and all the drawings are very finely detailed. However, what makes these cards truly unique is that each suit of the Minor Arcana portrays, in great detail, a different Greek Myth. The Suit of Wands shows the adventures of Jason and the Argonauts, Cups portrays the love affair between Eros and Psyche, Swords depicts the myth of Orestes and Coins illustrates the story of Daedalus, the master craftsman.
The Major Arcana depicts mainly gods or demi-gods. Some of the cards really stand out for their beauty, including the Star (Pandora opening the Box), the Empress (Demeter, the mother Goddess of nature) and Temperance (Iris, the Goddess of the rainbow.)
Although a detailed knowledge of Greek mythology is not necessary to appreciate this deck, I would particularly recommend these cards to anyone who has an interest in classical studies, mythology, or archetypal imagery.

By Brett Almond View ProfileThis deck has a youthful feel, full of enthusiasm for life. This is partly caused by the people in the cards, who all appear to have something 'on the go', always pondering something, or doing something. As stated above, Greek mythology plays a big part in this deck with the Golden Fleece, Zeus, Pan, Poseidon et al all making appearances. You do not necessarily need a great understanding of Greek mythology - that may be something you find out more about as you use the deck longer.
Both the major and minor Arcana have strong imagery, and the artwork is colourful and well painted. But the strongest aspect of this Tarot deck is the character that the cards put across. This would make them suited to beginners, but also there is such depth many Tarot readers choose this as their preferred deck.
I taught a Tarot class in Dereham, Norfolk to about 12 people over a 8 week period. One person had the Mythic deck, others liked it, and by the end of the course I would say half the class were using the Mythic Tarot deck because they found it so accessible. If you are drawn to imagery then I don't think you can go too wrong with this deck.

By Ann, clairvoyant, Ioannou The Mythic Tarot cards are very magical and easy to read due to their wonderful scenes. I teach with the mythic cards, and have formed a wonderful relationship with them. Once you have read with the Mythic Tarot any other seems strange. The card's meanings show a true explanation and a truthful outcome that the inquirer is looking for and it also shows choices.

By Susie G, Eastbourne The artwork is rather beautiful on these cards, they are easy for beginners who will work with their intuition, rather than the book that you can get with them. The book confuses somewhat, it goes into too much detail.
I think if you can take the cards for their beauty and work with them that way, all will be fine. I was however a bit disappointed in the cardstock, it does feel a little like the back of a cereal packet, but saying that, they do have wonderful imagery, and are easy to work with. If you are into greek mythology, they are a must for your collection. I recommend them, and find them an asset to my collection.
