They say: A tool for self-exploration based on ancient Aboriginal wisdom.
Oracle of the Dreamtime is a beautiful book-and-card set based on Aboriginal spiritual beliefs - the Dreaming stories - that have been passed around camp fires since long before Europeans set foot in Australia. There is much that this old wisdom can still teach us about how to live our lives today, and here the Dreamings are presented as a tool for self-exploration and inspiration, in a form accessible to all.
According to the Dreamings, animals, plants, and the creatures of the land are the Aboriginal ancestors, brothers and sisters, mothers or fathers. They are called kobong, or totems, and are never to be harmed. In return, they give protection, connect us to the spiritual, and guide us during difficult moments.
Donni Hakanson's system respects this tradition, and offers powerful messages of counsel for every aspect of life today. Her insight into Aboriginal culture, together with the stunning and authentic Dreaming card illustrations combine to help us find the answers and alternatives that lie within ourselves.
First system to offer Aboriginal wisdom for modern-day use

By Susan Daniels View ProfileThis set of divination cards is really something different. Unlike Tarot, the cards are round and tend to have a life of their own when it comes to shuffling so you really don't know which way they'll end up, upright or reversed. I quite liked this as I felt there was more of an opportunity for fate to dictate which way a card would land. The other thing I liked was the Dreaming stories, which tell the legends behind each card before going on to further explain the imagery behind the artwork. The stories are worth reading in themselves. There is plenty of scope to interpret these cards and how they influence each other, and I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate the readings I did for myself where. An additional aspect is the 'Kobong' explanation for each card, which reflects how a person's own personality, or actions are influencing a particular situation. There is an explanation at the end about how to use the oracle and a selection of spreads to try. It also has further information on the Australian Bush Flower Essences and how the Essences can work along side the cards to help you understand or resolve situations in your life more quickly. The cards are nice to use with lovely Aboriginal artwork, and the book is a good guide and is easy to follow.
