I am a great collector of oracle decks. I tend to admire them for their artistic beauty as well as for their divinatory usage. I do have trouble with many of them, however, in learning how to make use of them without a great deal of learning. This deck of I-Ching cards, though, is an exception. It is one of the best decks I have ever used! The major praise I have for this deck is that it is so very easy to use. There are 64 cards in the deck but only one card is ever used at a time. The divination is achieved by means of 8 trigram tokens. One token is chosen at random by the right hand, after silence and reflection, together with a question in mind. A second token is then chosen similarly, but with the left hand. These 2 are then located on a chart to indicate which card is to be read. The one card is then pulled out and the answer is found on it. The instruction booklet is short and concise yet adequate. The cards are especially beautiful, the artwork being the creation of the author. One side of each card bears words of wisdom drawn from the Chinese philosophies of Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism as interpreted by Lai Zhi De of the 16th century. The other side bears simple but beautiful drawings, each card a different design reflecting the author’s impression of the oracle’s meaning.

The cards can also be used simply for meditation and reflection. Overall this is a wonderful deck. It can be used by anyone, can be learned in a minute or two, and is a simple introduction to Chinese philosophy. I will use this myself many times and I can heartily recommend it to devotees......more
