It is not for anyone who is simply seeking background relaxation music, but is definitely aimed at the more skilled and advanced practioners. There are many tapes and CDs that will aid gentle relaxation as and when needed, and which contain music that is easy listening under any circumstances. This is not one of those.
The Sounds of the God Code has a very particular history, which is detailed in the leaflet that is enclosed with the CD. It may be that you are familiar with the book, the God Code, which suggests that certain holy books contain the 'word' of God in a coded form. The artists who created the chants on this CD believe that this is the case, but took the premise further, by looking beyond the Bible to the Kabbalah, and by attempting to translate the God Code, - specifically the holy name of God as it is recognised in Hebrew, into musical chords.
As a non-musician myself, I found the explanation of what they did (musically) fascinating but baffling. I was also confused by the fact that they specifically chose to translate a name of God which it has always been specifically prohibited to pronounce, into chants and music. But there is no doubt that the result is startling and very, very powerful.
It sounds like plain song, but is much more overwhelming, and should not be listened to lightly. The pamphlet offers explanations as to why these repeated chords and sounds are so incredibly powerful, but I do not have the background to understand their explanations.
