Druid Mysteries
Review (last 5 for this product, read more)

By Zena Greene View ProfileThis is a beautiful little book, very simply organised and easy to read. The parallels between Wicca and the Druid Mysteries struck me very forcibly when I was reading the text, and Philip Carr-Gomm writes with authority, claiming many of the old beliefs, and adherence to the Festivals as basically Druid. There is no doubt that these are common to most Pagan traditions, but Carr-Gomm sets out his text in a very convincing and authoritative way, so that the reader is left with a sense that Druids were (and are) the ones in the Pagan community who know what they are about, and who can authenticate their experience. He includes notes, a glossary and an index, but does not turn his book into a difficult to read textbook, and cleverly keeps the readers attention, even if that person is already a Pagan and familiar with the concepts described.
It is hard to think of a better book that might lead the interested (but not committed) reader into the Druid Mysteries. Carr-Gomm's book definitely has the feeling of being a pleasant 'taster' for those who are interested, don’t know where to start and might like to go further. He offers links – resources and recommended reading – for anyone who is ready to consider the druid Path further, and gives a good basic grounding here in a very easily read book. Carr-Gomm writes very sensibly and in a down to earth manner. Although his book is called 'Druid Mysteries', his writing goes a long way to prevent the Druid Path from appearing mysterious or in any way fanciful. There is much here that will appeal to anyone with a green heart, or who simply wishes to know more about this particular spiritual path.
