Many say that Buddhism is a philosophy rather than a religion. One of the reasons for this is that worship is not directed towards a God or a creator. Buddhists are more concerned with the road to enlightenment, a state of being. Using words like all-knowing, peaceful, calm, wise, profound love, and bliss can only hint at the absolute fulfilment that enlightenment represents. The symbols and figures such as Buddhas (which attempt to depict the state of enlightenment) can be used as reminders as to what we are trying to achieve.
